IIT Kanpur, the body responsible for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam, has announced the admission criteria for IITs. To gain admission through JEE Advanced 2025 for the 2025-26 academic year, candidates must secure at least 75% in their class 12 examinations. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the minimum required aggregate marks are 65%.
Several state education boards and the CBSE have released the schedule for the Class 12 board exams. Students planning to take the JEE Advanced exam in 2025 are not required to achieve a specific score in their Class 12 exams. However, to participate in JoSAA counselling for IIT seat allocation, they must secure at least 75% in their Class 12 results. Furthermore, students need to meet the cutoff score for the JEE Mains exam in 2025, which will be announced alongside the results for the second session of JEE Mains. The first session of the JEE Main exam is set for January 22 to January 31, 2025, while the second session will occur from April 1 to April 8, 2025.
IIT Admission Criteria for JEE Advanced 2025
The official JEE Advanced 2025 website, jeeadv.ac.in, has released the updated IIT admission criteria. Candidates need to meet at least one of the two specified criteria, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics being mandatory subjects in their first attempt in Class 12.
Candidates must have completed the class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with at least five subjects, including Maths, Physics, Chemistry, one language, and an additional subject. They should have achieved a minimum aggregate score of 75%. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the required aggregate marks are at least 65%.

JEE Advanced 2025 is scheduled to take place on May 18. The application form for candidates wishing to register for the examination will be released on April 23 and will remain accessible until May 2. The examination will be conducted at 224 centers, including two locations outside the country. The results are expected to be declared on June 2.
Candidates who successfully qualify for JEE Advanced 2025 will be required to engage in the JoSAA counselling process. It is anticipated that the registration for JoSAA will commence the day following the announcement of the JEE Advanced results, which is scheduled for June 3. The allocation of seats through JoSAA counselling will be determined by the candidates’ JEE Advanced 2025 ranks, their respective categories, and their selected courses and IITs.
