Is NEET a tough nut to crack? Contrary to the popular idiom, cracking the NEET UG Medical Entrance Exam is achievable by any standards. Here are some golden rules to crack the NEET UG Medical Entrance Exam.
Prioritize quality over quantity
When preparing for Medical NEET UG, instead of overwhelming yourself with unnecessary books, we recommend that you study from NCERT, DLP/CCP coaching modules, and handbooks for summary and selective reference purposes.
Maintain focus
When engaging in your studies, it is crucial to maintain focus. Many individuals tend to keep their books open in front of them for the entire day, yet only manage to complete a mere five pages. This occurs because the mind becomes preoccupied with other thoughts. Therefore, when you sit down to study, it is important to set aside all distractions and concentrate solely on the critical tasks. Devoting 6-8 hours of focused study per day, with appropriate breaks in between, is adequate to succeed in cracking the NEET exam. Once you have accomplished your daily goal of 6-8 hours of concentrated study, you can concentrate on other matters.
Establish your schedule
To succeed in NEET, it is essential to have a schedule. However, this schedule should be tailored to your study habits. Dedicate approximately 8 hours per day to studying in your schedule. Identify when you are most productive and allocate your study time accordingly. Avoid attempting to adhere to someone else’s schedule.
Peak Efficiency Rule
It is recommended to tackle the most challenging subject first thing in the morning when your mind is fresh and save the easiest subject for the end of the day before going to bed.
Are you solving more or reading more?
It is important to prioritize problem-solving over excessive reading. Many NEET aspirants often feel they have not read enough, but it is crucial not to worry about this. Instead, after reading a chapter once, focus on solving questions. Where time is limited and the chapter is lengthy, it is sufficient to read the chapter summary and then proceed to solve multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Waiting to understand all the concepts before attempting questions is not necessary. As you engage in problem-solving, your understanding of the concepts will naturally improve with preparation.
Solving the trio
Studying the previous year’s questions of NEET, AIIMS, and JIPMER can greatly benefit you. Several questions may be repeated as they are or with slight modifications in NEET.
Regular Revision
Don’t forget to review the material consistently to succeed in the NEET exam. Make sure to go over both the theory and the multiple-choice questions regularly.
No Games, No YouTube
If you want to crack NEET, refrain from playing computer or mobile games and watching YouTube vines. These activities can be highly addictive and consume your entire day, leading to regret and a repetitive cycle. Instead, consider listening to calming music during your breaks (not while studying and not for extended periods). Additionally, you can engage in indoor games such as Ludo (excluding Ludo King) or chess with your family for recreation, or even partake in outdoor games for a brief period.
Feel the Pressure
Invest in a set of practice exams and complete them promptly to prevent falling behind and refrain from dishonesty. By doing so, you will experience the pressure of competition and gain insight into your readiness. Do not hesitate to take these exams. It is preferable to make mistakes and gain knowledge from these practice tests rather than falter in the actual NEET examination because of insufficient practice and exposure.
Avoid engaging in political or current affairs conversations
Previously, the AIIMS exam provided a reason for these unnecessary discussions due to the inclusion of General Knowledge questions. However, with only NEET now, there are no more justifications. Cease these debates and discussions as they can lead to prolonged mental disturbance and distraction.
Choosing the right group of friends during the preparation phase
Choose your friends carefully when you are preparing for NEET. Stay away from friends who may discourage you and instead surround yourself with those who support your goals and ambitions. Disconnect from those friends who may lead you astray and waste your time during this critical period.
Feel the nature
Staying in the same location for an extended period can lead to feelings of depression. Therefore, it is advisable to take a stroll and appreciate the wonders of nature. This will help revitalize your mind.
Limited lecture
Only watch lecture videos on topics you find difficult to comprehend after studying independently. Time is precious, so avoid watching lectures on easy subjects, particularly biology.
Avoid watching every YouTube channel related to NEET preparation
Are you seeking advice and inspiration concerning NEET? Numerous channels of this nature have emerged in recent times. They only result in wasting time.
